About

The Photographer Mark Manley is a graduate of the Photo Journalism and Documentary Photography program at the International Center of Photography in New York City. His influences include the photographers Larry Burrows, Bruce Davidson, Robert Frank, Andre Lambertson, Christopher Morris, and Eugene Richards. He has been, and continues to be, profoundly influenced and inspired by his colleagues from ICP.  

Mark was a recipient of a 2007 Johnson & Johnson / International Center of Photography Fellowship. 

Past documentary work has included projects documenting the anti war movement, surveillance and security in America post 9/11, daily life in Afghanistan, and New Orleans street musicians.  

Currently Mark is researching a potential return trip to Afghanistan to continue working on a longterm project documenting a series of for couples only adult literacy classes and their impact on gender equalityamong the couples and communities where the classes are run.
